The above steamer has taken refuge in the port of Syracuse,
and we have handed Bills of Lading to Mesars The Kippon Yusen Kaisha, in order that they may obtain delivery of these goods from the German Steamer and arrange for their re-shipment to the British port of Hong- kong. In order to avoid any unnecessary delay on arrival at desti- nation we take the liberty of referring you to the Board of Trade's letter of 16th March last, addressed to Mesars. Gilbert Samuel & Co.
who were acting on behalf of the British Eastern Exchange Banks, and in tenor thereof we shall esteem it a favour if after satisfying your- self regarding this shipment, you will transmit the necessary instruc- tions to the officials at Hongkong.
